Four students from Gackle – Streeter Public School exhibited their projects at the North Dakota State Science and Engineering Fair in Grand Forks. The North Dakota State Science and Engineering Fair was hosted by the University of North Dakota on their campus on March 31st and April 1st. Students from Gackle – Streeter won five awards.
In the senior division, Brooke Homola presenting “The Effect of Common Liquids on Leman Minor in the Event of Accidental Contamination in Bodies of Water” placed as the first alternate from the Southeast Region to present at the International Science and Engineering Fair. Brooke has been moved up and will be presenting her project May 12th – 16th in Columbus Ohio.
Also in the senior division, Charlee Nenow presenting “What Substances can Reduce the Growth of Staphylococcus Epidermidis?”, won an award from the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science for a project related to Laboratory Medicine.
In the Junior Division, Fourie DuPreez presenting “How Your Everyday Drinks Affect Your Teeth” had the second-place project in the Junior Division from the Southeast Region of North Dakota. Alaina Nenow Presenting “Eww, I’ve Been Kissed by a Dog!” received awards from the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science for a project related to Laboratory Medicine and the UND Department of Biomedical Sciences for a project in Microbiology/Infectious Disease.
